Maine Guide Wind Power, LLC “Your guide to energy independence” Horton Family Turbine In early October 2008, Maine Guide Wind Power, LLC traveled to Holderness, NH to aid in the erection and installation of a Bergey Excel-S turbine on a 100 foot tall guyed tower. The owner of the site, David Horton, had prepared his site through the summer and had the anchors and tower pad all in place, as well as the wire run and Grid-Tek inverter. The challenge at this location was the inaccessibility for using a crane. This site required the use of tower stacking techniques to erect the tower and install the turbine.
I can be seen in the above photo as we began the tower stacking process at the Horton site. The owner, Dave Horton, as well as my ground man, Tony Schwarze are picture as well looking on as I hang suspended at 10 feet above the ground.
I can be seen in the above photo waiting for my next tower section to arrive. The gin pole we use to hoist the sections is clearly seen as well. At this point the tower is approximately 50% completed as I am attached to the side of the tower at 50 feet above the ground.
